Carver: Son charged with stabbing his father

A Carver man has been charged with assault with intent to murder in connection with a stabbing that occurred in Carver last night.
Around 7:40 p.m., Carver police received a call of a stabbing at 5 Craig Street. The caller reported that her son had stabbed her husband and was still in the house with the weapon. When police arrived, they observed 23 year-old George Cowen in the doorway with what appeared to be blood on his clothing, arms, and hands. Police approached Cowen and found a large folding knife in his front pocket.
Plympton Police officers arrived on scene to assist.
Inside the home, police officers found the victim, later identified as the defendant’s father, 56 year-old George Cowen,  sitting in a kitchen chair with what appeared to be blood on his chest and hands.
Based on witness interviews, police determined that the younger George Cowen had stabbed his father multiple times in the chest with a knife while the victim was seated in the kitchen.
The victim was taken by med-flight helicopter to a Boston for treatment of multiple stab wounds.
