Kingston: Water Commissioner indicted for child rape

A member of the Kingston Board of Water Commissioners has been indicted on child rape charges stemming from incidents back in 1996 and 1997.

Plymouth County District Attorney spokesman Russ Eonas says that 73-year-old Fred Svenson was indicted last Friday, February 7th, by a Plymouth County grand jury on charges of use of force in the rape of a child and aggravated rape of a child for incidents that are alleged to have happened between November 1996 and February 1997. The alleged victim was 16 at the time.

Svenson is serving his first year of a term set to expire in 2016 on the Kingston Board of Water Commissioners.

Eonas says that an arraignment date for Svenson has not yet been set.

There is no statute of limitations on child rape charges under these circumstances. If convicted, Svenson could face a life sentence, or a sentence of any number of years.
