Brockton: Woman and her boyfriend arrested in connection with death of a child

A Brockton woman and her boyfriend are facing charges in connection with the beating death of the woman’s 4 year-old son.

The woman is also facing a charge of accessory after the fact of the commision of a felony.

4 year old Chauncey Cohen died last June after he was brought to the Good Samaritan Hospital by his mother, 27 year old Tania Merisca, from the Holiday Inn Express in Brockton, where he had been staying with her and her boyfriend.

The young boy died about 40 minutes later. The cause of death was determined to be blunt force trauma to the abdomen and the manner of death was determined to be homicide.

Arrested on Monday afternoon were Merisca and her boyfriend, 32 year old Antonio Durham, who was arrested in Fall River.

Investigators had been actively searching for the suspects who will be arraigned Tuesday in Brockton District Court.
