Duxbury: Police officer hurt in motorcycle accident

A veteran Duxbury Police officer is recovering after he suffered minor injuries Sunday night when he lost control of a police motorcycle he was operating on Washington Street in Duxbury shortly after 9:00 p.m.

Sergeant Dennis Symmonds and another motorcycle officer were providing an escort for the Duxbury High School Girls Ice Hockey team who were returning home from a game at the TD Garden in Boston after winning their 4th consecutive State Championship.

The officer lost control of his motorcycle after trying to avoid some construction debris in the road.  No other vehicles were involved.  The officer was treated at the scene by Duxbury Fire Department Paramedics and was transported to South Shore Hospital in South Weymouth.
