Duxbury: Town meeting to decide on electronic balloting and a proposed change to make the Town Clerk appointed, rather than elected

Duxbury voters will gather tomorrow at the Performing Arts Center on Alden Street to address a 32 article Annual Town Meeting warrant and an 11 article Special Town Meeting warrant.

In addition to the operating and capital budgets, residents will vote on the Duxbury Beach lease, decide the fate of a number of Community Preservation Act articles, and decide what to do with the former police station building.

There is also an article on electronic balloting and a zoning bylaw on medical marijuana.

During the Special Town Meeting, residents will be asked to transfer money to the Percy Walker Pool Enterprise Fund and to transfer money into the Pension Reserve Fund.

One article that’s expected to generate some discussion is a proposal to change the Town Clerk from an elected to an appointed position.

Also on the Special Town meeting warrant are two articles concerning affordable housing in Duxbury.

Duxbury Town meeting gets underway tomorrow morning at 9:00.

About David Skill

Dave Skill’s radio career began in the fall of 1964 when he arrived on the campus of Holy Cross College in Worcester, MA. Dave barely got his bags unpacked when he paid a visit to WCHC, the campus radio station. And, before he knew it, he was spending so much time as a disc jockey and news writer/reporter, it seemed like he was majoring in “radio” and minoring in academics at “The Cross”. As you might imagine, his grades reflected it! During his junior and senior years, he also worked weekends in news and as a disc jockey at WNEB, the CBS radio affiliate in Worcester at the time.
