Bourne: Utility accident kills South Shore worker

Two utility workers are dead after their bucket truck apparently tipped over while they were in the basket more than 100 feet in the air at a Cape Cod site.

Bourne police confirmed the Saturday deaths at Cape Cod Aggregates Corp. near Scenic Highway.

The victims, John Loughran of Quincy and Joseph Boyd of Fall River, were inside an aerial basket in a truck working along the Cape Cod Canal.

The men were working for a contractor for an NStar utility project.

They were working underneath high tension power lines, near utility poles, on sandy barren land.

The investigation is ongoing.
