Hanson: Hanson day event ‘growing in leaps & bounds’

Hanson Town Administrator Ronald San Angelo said over 20 organizations have already committed to participate in “Hanson Day.”

The event will take place on Sunday, June, 8 from 1:00p.m.-6:00p.m. at Camp Kiwanee.

San Angelo said they’re trying to make this an informational event for the citizens to “showcase” all the great organizations in the town.

“We also want to make it fun,” San Angelo said,” We’re going to have a bounce house for the little kids, we’re going to have a dunk tank…we’re looking to really celebrate Hanson.

San Angelo expanded on other details of the event. He said the Fire Department will be bringing a fire truck, there will be karate demonstrations, and short skits put on by Hanson Drama, and the Boy Scouts will be making hot dogs and hamburgers.

“It’s growing in leaps and bounds,” San Angelo said.

As the event comes together, San Angelo said the only obstacle they face is transportation.

“The road going into Camp Kiwanee is difficult,” San Angelo said,”So we’re going to look for ways to transport or shuttle people into Camp Kiwanee, close the road, and just have the buses go in and out from perhaps a parking lot at Indian Head School or the Maquan School.”

San Angelo added that they already plan to use the senior bus, and are looking into other bussing options.

Despite this problem, San Angelo recognized that the event as a whole is shaping up to be “very positive.”
