Plymouth: Officer dies after motorcycle crash

A Plymouth motorcycle officer passed away Tuesday after some type of crash on Samoset Street by Marc Drive, around 2:30 p.m.
One witness said the officer, Greg Maloney, appeared to be riding side by side with another motorcycle officer, and then “something happened” and the officer was in the road.
It’s not clear what caused the crash.
Maloney was first taken to Beth Israel Deaconess Hospital – Plymouth before he was taken by helicopter to Mass General Hospital in Boston. A procession of officers rode up Route 3 from Plymouth to Boston later in the afternoon.
The State Police Accident Reconstruction Team is investigating the crash. It is the first line of duty death in Plymouth since 1965.
