Quincy mayor Thomas Koch wants to know how city records with personal information about local veterans were out in plain view and is asking police to investigate.
In the meantime, the city is planning to upgrade the locks at the local veterans services building.
Last week dozens of old veterans records were found on the ground nearly one mile from the building, behind Quincy High School, the same day a shredding company picked up thousand of similar documents.
Some of the papers contained Social Security numbers and benefit claims.
