Scituate: Town Meeting to vote on marijuana dispensaries and seawall repairs

Spring Town Meeting is tonight in Scituate and residents will vote on the town’s operating and capital budgets.

The operating budget totals nearly $62.7 million.

The capital budget includes a number of requests including $400,000 for integrated financial software and $200,000 for roadway improvements.

Also, there is an article to authorize funding for snow and ice removal, and a request for money from the Community Preservation fund amounting to close to $2.3 million.

The town is looking to raise $1 million to repair, reconstruct and maintain the town’s seawalls.

In addition, voters will decide the fate of a zoning article for registered marijuana dispensaries in town.

The Annual Town Meeting warrant has 23 articles.

The Special Town Meeting warrant has six articles, including a number of money transfers.

Town Meeting gets underway tonight at 7:00 in the gymnasium at Scituate High School.
