Brockton: City holding its annual Memorial Day Parade

The city of Brockton will hold its annual Memorial Day parade today. Participants will gather at the War Memorial Building on West Elm Street and the parade will step off this morning at 10 a.m.  The parade will begin traveling south on Newbury Street, east on Belmont and then turns north on Main Street.  According to the city’s Veteran’s Agent David Farrell, there has been a change to the parade route this year due to construction at City Hall Plaza.

The parade will continue up Main Street before turning west onto Legion Parkway. Farrell says the parade will feature a number of familiar groups and organizations like the Brockton High School Marching band and the school’s JROTC, the Brockton Fire Department’s Pipes and Drums band, the city’s Police and Fire Color Guard, Post 1046, plus the Boy Scouts and Girl Scouts.

The parade will conclude with a special ceremony at the Veteran of All Wars Monument, located at the top of Legion Parkway.
