Brockton: Condo fire displaces dozens of families

Dozens of Brockton residents, including former mayor Linda Balzotti, need a place to live after a fire struck their condo complex.

The 26-unit building at 10 Felton St. was evacuated shortly before 9:30 a.m. Sunday.

Fire captain Vic Parziale told WATD the blaze broke out in a third-floor unit and caused water and smoke damage to several other units and the attic.

He said damage was estimated at $800,000 and that the cause of the fire is under investigation.

One firefighter was treated for minor burns.

The Red Cross is assisting the displaced residents.

WATD was unable to reach Balzotti for comment Sunday afternoon.
