Middleboro: Town Meeting to discuss school budget and renovations to the police station

Tonight Middleboro town meeting could erupt in a floor fight if there’s an attempt to amend the school’s $30.7 million budget.

Earlier this month selectmen shot down School Superintendent Roseli Weiss’s bid for a $31.4 million budget and last week she sent out a town wide flier lobbying for the bigger budget. Chairman of the Selectman Allin Frawley says he’d like to fully fund the schools but the town doesn’t have the extra cash.

Other key issues include support of $12.1 million in renovations to the police station, contingent on a June 7 ballot vote to override taxes for 30-years to pay the debt.

Middleboro Town meeting will kick off tonight at 7 p.m. at the high school.
