Middleboro: Two teens charged with setting fires to be arraigned this week

Two Middleboro teens will be arraigned Wednesday on arson charged in connection to a wave of small fires that sparked an intense investigation as they began to escalate. Detective Robert Lake said the teenagers were arrested Friday on a warrant and released on $540 bail.

The boys were charged with setting fire to mailboxes in September and November. Fire Chief Lance Benjamino says the teens are suspects in several other fires that spiraled from mailboxes, to brush, and most recently camping trailers.Lake declined to release the teenagers names because they are juveniles.

Two months ago another pair of Middleboro firebugs, 46-year-old Mark Sargent and his stepson 24-year-old Jeanmarie Louis, admitted to setting at least 3 fires. Despite pressure from District Attorney Timothy Cruz and a courtroom full of fire officials the pair got off on sentences of a little more than 2-years.
