Quincy: Trial defendant to face additional assault charges for courtroom attack

Two Quincy District Court officers were taken to a hospital, after they were assaulted by a young Weymouth man ironically on trial for assault with a dangerous weapon.

The officers were among several who were attacked Friday afternoon as 21-year-old Christopher Calabro was being escorted from a courtroom to an elevator in handcuffs.

Quincy Police say Calabro, who had been undergoing an evaluation at Bridgewater State Hospital, head-butted one court officer, spit in the face of another who came to his aid, and attacked another three officers.

Calabro will be charged with three counts of assault and battery.
