Wareham: Middleboro man accused of killing wheelchair-bound man in crash

Police in Wareham are holding a Middleboro man without bail, alleging that his car fatally hit a 24-year-old man in a wheelchair.

Police say the car driven by 28-year-old John Vandeusen car hit the wheelchair shortly after 1 a.m. Saturday on Onset Avenue.

Officers who arrived at the scene found the injured victim, Joshua Macro of Onset.

He was taken to Tobey Hospital in Wareham, where he died of his injuries.

Authorities are still investigating the crash.

They say Vandeusen face charges of motor vehicle homicide, negligent operation of a motor vehicle and failure to stay in marked lanes.

He is scheduled to be arraigned at the Wareham District Court on Tuesday.
