Weymouth: Firefighter injured fighting two-alarm blaze

One Weymouth firefighter was injured as he battled a two-alarm fire on Broad Street last night.

The call of a fire at 303 Broad Street came in around 7:20 p.m. By about 10:30, firefighters had knocked down most of the fire.

A section of Broad Street near the fire scene was closed to traffic.

Fire crews from Braintree, Quincy and Hingham assisted at the scene.

The cause of the fire is under investigation, but does not appear to be suspicious. Damage has been set at between $100,000 and $200,000.

The homeowner escaped unharmed.  The Red Cross is assisting him in finding temporary housing.

About David Skill

Dave Skill’s radio career began in the fall of 1964 when he arrived on the campus of Holy Cross College in Worcester, MA. Dave barely got his bags unpacked when he paid a visit to WCHC, the campus radio station. And, before he knew it, he was spending so much time as a disc jockey and news writer/reporter, it seemed like he was majoring in “radio” and minoring in academics at “The Cross”. As you might imagine, his grades reflected it! During his junior and senior years, he also worked weekends in news and as a disc jockey at WNEB, the CBS radio affiliate in Worcester at the time.
