Weymouth: Homeless man arrested in connection with domestic dispute

Police in Weymouth are continuing their investigation into a domestic violence dispute that happened around midnight on Saturday.

Police officers responded to a report of an unwanted person involved in a domestic dispute at 215 Winter Street. That unwanted party was identified as 35 year-old William Sylvester who is currently listed as homeless.

Sylvester also has a warrant for violation of parole for failing to register as a sex offender.

When the officers arrived, they were met by the caller who advised them that Sylvester was in a bedroom. When officers entered the bedroom Sylvester showed a knife and lunged toward the officers. Both officers simultaneously fired their weapons and he was struck in the lower torso. He was taken by ambulance to South Shore Hospital with a non-life threatening gunshot wound.

Sylvester is now under arrest on his parole violation warrant and is also being charged with two counts of assault with intent to murder and failure to register as a sex offender. He is being held without bail.

The incident is currently under investigation by Weymouth Police Detectives as well as Massachusetts State Police Detectives assigned to the Norfolk County District Attorney’s Office.

About David Skill

Dave Skill’s radio career began in the fall of 1964 when he arrived on the campus of Holy Cross College in Worcester, MA. Dave barely got his bags unpacked when he paid a visit to WCHC, the campus radio station. And, before he knew it, he was spending so much time as a disc jockey and news writer/reporter, it seemed like he was majoring in “radio” and minoring in academics at “The Cross”. As you might imagine, his grades reflected it! During his junior and senior years, he also worked weekends in news and as a disc jockey at WNEB, the CBS radio affiliate in Worcester at the time.
