Plymouth: Wake held for beloved school custodian

A wake is being held Sunday for a well-liked Manomet Elementary School custodian who died last week.

53-year-old Chet Flattery was found dead inside the school shortly after reporting for work last Monday morning.

Eleven other people, all but one of them first responders, were taken to a hospital after complaining of headaches and eye and throat irritation.

Authorities say they were apparently exposed to some sort of hazardous chemicals, but were not seriously ill.

Visiting hours for Flattery are 4:00p.m.-8:00p.m. at Cartmell Funeral Home in Plymouth.

The funeral will be held Monday at 10:00a.m. at St. Peter’s Church in Plymouth.

Donations in Flattery’s memory may be made to The Flattery Family Benefit Fund c/o Rockland Trust 1 Pilgrim Hill Rd., Plymouth, MA 02360.

Donations may also be dropped off at any Rockland Trust Location.

The cause of Flattery’s death remains under investigation.
