A kayaker is lucky to be alive after getting into trouble off Nantasket Beach in Hull, and fire officials are hailing a local resident a hero for his assistance.
Fire Capt. Andrew Thomas told WATD says they got a call at approximately 7:00 p.m. Saturday, and found the vessel overturned between Sunset Point and Bumpkin Island.
The victim, an unidentified Hull resident, was screaming for help.
Thomas said an area resident heard the cries, and used his own kayak to reach the man and kept him afloat in the chilly waters until crews arrived and got him ashore.
The victim wasn’t hurt.
