Plymouth: Man hurt in boating accident

A freak boating accident in Plymouth leaves a young man seriously hurt.

Deputy Fire Chief Mike Young told WATD the first call came in shortly after 7:00 p.m. on Saturday.

He said the unidentified 25-year-old was in an inner tube on Big Sandy Pond being pulled by a boat, when the tube struck a canoe that was docked.

No one on the boat was hurt, and Young said the occupants, with the help of authorities, assisted the victim to shore and into an ambulance.

Though he was conscious and alert at the time, Young said the man suffered “significant trauma.”
