Plymouth: Task force gets creative with ideas for new revenue

Well, they didn’t propose raising beach sticker fees or any of the other usual revenue enhancements. The Plymouth Revenue Ideas Task Force, a temporary group to do what its name implies, borrowed some ideas from other towns, but did a lot of original thinking.

They surprised everyone in the town hall meeting room when they presented their initial recommendations to selectmen Tuesday night.

The five recommendations: create a cultural arts district, appoint a revenue director, establish a Plymouth-Boston ferry, charge sea wall repair betterments, impose a cannabis excise tax.
