Norwell: Plans for ‘Summer Fest’ in June

Norwell selectmen met Wednesday night and heard from a group organizing a special community event to take place in June.

The Norwell Women’s Club and Chamber of Commerce said they are planning to have the big event called Summer Fest, in the center of town.

Along with beer gardens and live music, there’ll be cool stuff for kids like a rock wall, horses and farm animals, a Humvee and a touch-a-truck at the fire house.

Organizer Kera Kirchner said the event will also feature arts and crafts and food vendors.

“We have all different kinds of vendors coming to sell their painting, photographs, hand-made jewelry and pottery.

And then we have food vendors. We have all the fun, carnival type foods like cotton candy, lemonade, pretzels, fried dough – all that good stuff.”

Kirchner said event goers be able to taste food from several area restaurants as well.

“We’re hoping also to have about 10 to 12 restaurants doing tasting in the Dunkin Donuts parking lot, which will also be free.

The only cost to come to this is if you actually purchase an item, or if you want to eat something or have a drink.”

Norwell Summer Fest is slated for Saturday, June 13 from 2 to 8 pm in Norwell Center.
