Scituate: Barn Fire Under Control

Fire fighters extinguishing Friday afternoon’s fire on Chief Justice Highway in Scituate (Ryan Stanton / WATD)

Flames broke out in a barn in Scituate this afternoon, at 385 Chief Justice Cushing Highway (Route 3A).

Reports of the fire came in around 1:45 p.m. and Norwell’s fire department provided station coverage in Scituate while firefighters tackled the blaze.

WATD’s Ryan Stanton was on the scene:

Traffic in on that part of 3A was reduced to one lane as crews responded to the barn along the highway, the detour starting in the rotary in Scituate, with the third exit closed, heading north to Cohasset. That detour was back open for north and southbound traffic, as of 3 p.m.

No word yet on what caused the fire; no injuries have been reported.

This story is developing and will be updated.
