Boston: Gov. Baker Says He’s Spoken to President-Elect Donald Trump

Gov. Charlie Baker says he’s spoken with President-elect Donald Trump.

Baker said Monday during his monthly segment on WGBH-FM that he called Trump before Thanksgiving and wished him and his family a happy holiday and congratulated him.

The Republican governor described the conversation with the incoming Republican president as polite and said it lasted about four or five minutes.

During the campaign Baker repeatedly said Trump didn’t have the temperament to serve as president. Baker said he didn’t vote for Trump or Democrat Hillary Clinton.

Despite his public rejection of Trump — and the state’s overwhelming support for Clinton — Baker says he doesn’t think Massachusetts would suffer with Trump in the White House.

Baker also says he won’t accept a job in the Trump administration.
