MA: Keating Wins 9th Congressional District Seat

Five contenders running for the 9th congressional district seat–with one winner emerging.

Democrat and incumbent, Bill Keating, of Bourne, wins another term in office.

Leating was able to defeat Republican Mark Alliego of Falmouth by a vote of 207,762 to 126,411

Alliegro had a good showing in some districts, but not enough the win the race.

Keating not only faced a challenge from Alliegro this time around but three Independents as well: Chris Cataldo of Norwell, Anna Grace Raduc of Halifax, and Paul Harrington.

The 9th Congressional District covers a large geographic area that includes:

All of Barnstable County, Dukes County, and Nantucket County.(The Cape and Islands)

In Bristol County:

Acushnet, Dartmouth, Fairhaven, Fall River: Wards 1-3, Ward 6, Precincts A and B in Ward 4, Precincts A and B in Ward 5, New Bedford, and Westport.

In Plymouth County:

Carver, Duxbury, Halifax, Hanover, Hanson, Kingston, Marion, Marshfield, Mattapoisett, Middleborough, Norwell, Pembroke, Plymouth, Plympton, Rochester, Rockland, and Wareham.

Keating was first elected in 2010 to represent Massachusetts’s 10th Congressional District. He was re-elected to represent the 9th district in 2012 after redistricting.
