Pembroke: Gas Leak On Route 14 (Mattakeesett St.)

Lane restrictions remain in place following a gas leak in Pembroke.

Deputy Fire Chief Kenneth McCormack tells WATD News the incident took place around 8 a.m. on Mattakeesett St.

“Construction crews doing the road work project had struck a gas main. We responded with our engine. The shift commander on scene decided to close the road and evacuate Causeway Contracting and a resident house on the corner of Adams and Mattakeesett St.,” said McCormack.

The closures were in effect at Wompatuck and Mattakeeset St.

While traffic is moving through the area again, McCormack says road restrictions remain in place.

“The road is open with one lane passing … they have numerous crews working. It was a large gas main,: said McCormack.

No injuries were reported.
