Plymouth: Planning Board Candidates Speak at Public Forum

In Plymouth, the League of Women Voters held a forum Monday afternoon for candidates for the Planning Board.

Two candidates are running for one seat on the Board. Malcolm McGregor is a long time member of the Board and would like to retain his seat.

Keven Joyce is a newcomer to planning. But, he says he has assets he would bring to the Board.

“I’m a graduate of Suffolk University, attended the MBA program there—management background is my background. I’m also a Marine Corp veteran—which I learned training, dependability, reliability,” said Joyce.

Joyce says the Board needs to be more creative. So how would he do that?

“When the town school department was looking for $1.4  million for their high school football field and they ran out of money in the $199 million over-ride, I had suggested, why don’t we go out and get scoreboard sponsors,” said Joyce.

School Department planning does not come under the jurisdiction of the Planning Board.

Malcolm MacGregor has served for 30 years on the Planning Board and “45 years in town government, Conservation Commission, Board of Health, Water Supply Citizens Advisory Committee for the State of Massachusetts.

MacGregor says all of those things blend together “to give me a nice background as to how this town should develop, and maintain its resources—its water resources, its woodland resources and a great quality of life.”

The town election is this Saturday, May 20th.
