The Scituate Board of Selectmen met this week and spoke about a number of issues including a special election and a new brew pub.

Scituate native Matt Elder has been working in the brewing industry for years and is now moving forward with opening his own brewery in Greenbush.

Elder met with selectmen Tuesday night and got the okay for a liquor and entertainment license.

Elder says he hopes to open Untold Brewery on Old Country Way come September.

“We still have some construction to finish and equipment to install but we’re hoping for September. All the beer that we serve is going to be brewed in the brewery, so everything you drink is going to be made by us,” said Elder.

Selectmen also voted for a special election that will be held on Saturday, September 16 at the high school and that will be to fill the seat of selectman Marty O’Toole, who resigned because of a change in work and family obligations.
