MA: Two South Shore Farms Receive State Grants to Improve Energy Efficiency

Two local farms will be receiving state grants for projects that seek to improve energy efficiency.

The Baker Polito Administration announced that Fresh Meadow Farm in Carver and Rocky Maple Bogs in West Wareham have received funds through the Agricultural Energy Grant Program.

Fresh Meadow Farm will be receiving $25,000 for a 24.9 KW Photovoltaic system.

Rocky Maple Bogs has been awarded $10,000 to fund a 7.67 KW Photovoltaic system.

They were among 38 projects across the Commonwealth that received a total of $908,259.

State officials say the project, which is being run in partnership with the Massachusetts Department of Energy Resources, is projected to save farmers over $200,000 annually and reduce greenhouse gas emissions by over 660 tons each year.
