Carver: State Police Release Name Of Crash Victim

State Police have released the name of an East Taunton man who was killed in a crash on Route 44 in Carver.

Daniel Newcomb, 31, of East Taunton, was killed January 12 when his 1998 Saturn SL2 was struck in the breakdown lane

State Police say a preliminary investigation has determined that at around 12:35 a.m. a 23-year-old Monponsett man was driving a 2001 Mitsubishi Gallant when he struck Newcomb’s vehicle.

It’s believed Newcomb was outside his vehicle at the time of the crash, and he was taken to South Shore Hospital where he was subsequently pronounced dead.

The Mitsubishi’s driver wasn’t injured.

The incident remains under investigation with assistance from the State Police Collision Analysis and Reconstruction Section, Crime Scene Services Section, and troopers assigned to the Plymouth County District Attorney’s Office.
