Brockton: Employee with Brockton Housing Authority Charged with Rape

An employee from the Brockton Housing Authority has been charged with rape and indecent assault and battery on a person with an intellectual disability.

John Beals, Sr., 59, was arraigned Wednesday in Brockton District Court.

According to the police report, Beals, an employee of over 30 years at the BHA, inappropriately touched a 22-year-old male over an eight-month period.

The alleged victim told police he told Beals not to touch him. Beals would touch his whole body, and would offer to pay the victim when he refused. The victim told police similar incidents occurred roughly 30 times.

Judge Daniel Hourihan ordered Beals to be held on $2,500 cash bail.

Beals is due back in court on March 6 for a probable cause hearing.
