Route 18: Tree Removal Project In Abington, Weymouth

A tree removal project will begin on Route 18 on Monday.

The Massachusetts Department of Transportation says the work, being undertaken as part of the Route 18 Improvement Project, will take place in Weymouth and Abington.

Work on the two-week operation will take place from 10 a.m. through 2 p.m. and a lane closure will be in place during that time, meaning that there will be one alternating lane of travel.

The tree removal operations will be conducted between Clark St. in Abington, and Fountain Ln. in Weymouth, within the roadway right-of-way.

This phase of the project is being done as a way to prepare for the start of roadway widening which will take place later this year.

Officials say signs will be posted and police details will be present to direct traffic.

However, drivers are being asked to reduce speed, use caution, and prepare for potential delays.

Work schedules are weather dependent and subject to change without notice.

More information about the project can be found here.
