Bourne: Marshfield Wins Div. 1 South Hockey Title in OT

The Marshfield high school boys’ hockey team will play in the state championship after a thrilling overtime game Sunday.

Marshfield junior Paul Rorke scored 21 seconds into overtime in the Division 1 South Final to send his team to the state championship at TD Garden.

“It doesn’t feel real. Johnny [Jordan] gave me a great pass. I buried it,” said Rorke. “Nothing better than getting a goal to send your team to the Garden. It’s a dream come true.”

The Rams (15-5-6) beat Braintree, 1-0. Braintree senior goalie Owen Cuddyer had 27 saves for the Wamps (11-7-6).

Hanover beat Rockland, 6-0 to win the Division 3 South title. Senior Zach Taylor and junior Lucas Lanagan scored two goals each. Hanover (23-0-1) will play in the state semi-final against Swampscott at Stoneham Arena at 6 p.m. on Wednesday.

Plymouth South (19-3-2) will play in its first state championship game in program history after senior Sean Colbert scored twice in a 6-3 win over Medfield.

“It’s an amazing feeling,” said Colbert. “We’ve been saying since the beginning of this year that we wanted to get this and we knew had the potential to do it. We all believed in each other and we got it done today.”

Though times are to be determined, the state hockey finals are set for this Sunday at TD Garden in Boston.
