Plymouth: Two Enforcement Letters Were Sent to the Owner of the Pilgrim Nuclear Power Station

The Nuclear Regulatory Commission sent the letters to plant owner Entergy for a violation related to a procedure not being properly followed during an inspect in March that involving the plant’s Reactor Core Isolation Cooling (RCIC) system which caused another system to be inoperable for about 35 minutes.

NRC Spokesman Neil Sheehan tells WATD News that the incident involved both the technicians involved and a supervisor who signed off on the work.

Entergy spokesman Patrick O’Brien issued a statement to WATD News saying the company, “promptly reported this matter to the NRC, when it occurred in March of 2017, and took disciplinary action based on the findings of our investigation. Integrity is a core value at Entergy, and dishonesty will not be tolerated. We will respond to the NRC with details of the corrective actions put in place to prevent recurrence.”
