Hingham: Pilot Program Will Result in Road Lane Reduction Scheduled for May 20th – July 30th

The Town of Hingham presenting the details of a pilot program that reduces traffic to one lane each way from the Route 3A rotary in Hingham, to three quarters of a mile up on Summer Street to the intersection of George Washington Boulevard and Rockland Street.

Excessive speed is cited as a factor in accidents on that portion of 3A that often results in serious injuries.

Neighbor Bill Readon says he’s in favor of the study.

Hingham Town Engineer Roger Fernandez weighs in on the pilot program.

The program is expected to add only about 30 seconds more to travel times.

The road lane reduction is scheduled for May 20th until July 30th.
