In the spirit of Mother’s Day many will be reading the Robert McCloskey classic “Make Way for Ducklings”. However, on Friday some Norwell ducks were in need of a rescue.

On Friday afternoon Norwell Police and Fire were called to help rescue seven ducklings who had fallen into a storm drain on Longwater Circle.

Fire Captain Jeff Simpson tells WATD News that this isn’t the type of call they would normally respond to.

And what tools did they use?

Needless to say the mother duckling closely observed the operation.

Crews were able to get the ducklings free and they were on their way.

Simpson says it appears everything worked out well for the mother duck.
