Norwell: Program Evaluating Curbside Recycling Barrels for Contamination Starts this Week

Press release from the Town of Norwell:

The South Shore Recycling Cooperative’s Recycling Education and Compliance Officer starting this week will be evaluating curbside recycling carts for contamination. This program is funded completely through Public Outreach and Education grants. It’s purpose is to keep our low contamination levels down, education, and outreach.

Over the last 8 months China’s National Sword Program has gotten stricter with contamination levels in recycling goods and it has effected everyone globally. It is important that our contamination levels are low so recycling loads are accepted at recycling facilities. Loads that are rejected by recycling facilities are trash and the additional labor, transportation, and disposal of rejected loads is all billed back to the customer.
