The Town of Plympton has decided to maintain their stand alone fire department.

Selectmen Mark Russo tells WATD News that, after careful consideration, town officials ultimately decided against merging their fire department with Halifax.

Russo says they were also impressed by the amount of progress the department has made in implementing reforms.

Russo says Chief Benjamino will begin to take a step back as the search continues for a new chief.

However, Russo says that doesn’t mean they won’t continue to share resources with other communities.
