Brockton: Fireworks Explosion Injures Man’s Hand

A 25-year-old man was injured during a fireworks explosion in Brockton.

Police and emergency personnel responded Friday night to 30 South Street to a report of a large explosion that injured a man’s hand. According to the Enterprise, an off-duty firefighter was the first of those to arrive at the scene, immediately jumping into action, and providing first aid.

A witness told authorities that he assisted the victim and asked what happened, and the injured party told him that he had lit a firework, before suffering damage to one of his hands.

The injured man suffered a “significant injury” to his left hand and was transported by ambulance to Massachusetts General Hospital.

The incident is being investigated the Brockton Police and Fire Prevention Bureau.
