East Bridgewater: Lock Down Lifted At Junior/Senior High School

East Bridgewater schools were put in lock down Thursday morning after a threat was received.

Police Chief Scott Allen and Superintendent Elizabeth Legault say that officers were dispatched to East Bridgewater Junior/Senior High School around approximately 7:15 a.m. after a threat was made toward the school.

The threat was made via the anonymous tip messaging app StopIt and made reference to the 1999 Columbine High School shooting.

The junior/senior high school was placed into lock down mode and other schools in town had their students shelter in place out of an abundance of caution.

Parents were also notified of the situation.

Officers searched each floor of the junior/senior high school, including all lockers, classrooms and students’ backpacks and personal belongings.

The subsequent investigation determined that the threat was not credible and both the lock down and shelter in place order was lifted.

The incident is being investigated by both the school district and East Bridgewater Police.
