Whitman: Man Sentenced Following Rape Conviction

A Whitman man will serve five to seven years in State Prison, following his rape conviction.

The Plymouth County District Attorney’s Office says that 33-year-old Daniel Nash was found guilty on two counts of Rape, and one count each of Indecent Assault and Battery on a Person over 14 and Photographing an Unsuspecting Person in the Nude.

The charges stem from a January 2014 incident at Nash’s Whitman home where he was holding a birthday party.

The female victim arrived at the party and stayed overnight.

She contacted Whitman Police the next morning to report that she had been sexually assaulted by a person at the party, believed to be Nash.

The victim also said that she believed there was videotape of the incident.

The DA’s office says Nash was interviewed by Whitman Police during the course of an investigation and that Nash admitted to the assault.

He also allowed police to search his phone where investigators found a video of the incident.

Nash was also given a suspended sentence of 2 ½ years in the House of Correction and three years of probation during which he must wear a GPS monitoring bracelet.

In addition Nash was ordered to stay away from, and have no contact with, the victim, register with the state Sex Offender Registry Board, and undergo sex offender treatment.
