Marshfield: Ventress Memorial Library To Host Presentation On Great Molasses Flood

Tuesday will mark the 100th anniversary of the Great Molasses Flood of Boston which occurred when a large molasses storage tank burst and a wave of molasses rushed through the streets of the North End leave 21 dead and 150 injured. 

 

Local researcher Derek Gunn tells WATD News that blame was placed with the Purity Distilling Company, city government, and even anarchists. 

 

Gunn will giving a presentation on the flood Monday that will include topics such as the massive clean-up effort. 

 

Along with the impact the event continues to have on modern culture. 

 

Gunn’s lecture, “The Great Molasses Flood: 100th  Anniversary” will take place Monday from 7 p.m. to 8:30 p.m. at the Ventress Memorial Library in Marshfield.
