Event: WATD’s Steven Dodrill pilots ‘Big Steve’ in the 2012 Marshfield Fair Demolition Derby DATE: August 17th, 2012, TIME: 7pm Location: Marshfield Fair, Marshfield Fair Grounds, Rt 3A, Marshfield, MA 02050 Details: WATD News Reporter and Anchor Steven Dodrill, a 25-year-old resident of Hanson, will get behind the wheel of a 2000 Buick Century with the hopes of bringing home another trophy as a winner in a qualifying heat. Dodrill won a trophy, t-shirt and cash prize last year at the Marshfield Fair after he was one of two cars still running in his qualifying heat of the 2011 derby. This year, Dodrill will get behind the wheel of “Big Steve,” named after his father Steven Dodrill. WATD’s Larry Nelson will provide some chilling blow-by-blow announcing live on 95.9 WATD FM.
Steven Dodrill News Reporter/Anchor, WATD-FM Steven Dodrill, a Hanson resident has been with WATD since he was a senior in high school. Dodrill, a 2009 graduate of Franklin Pierce University, works in the WATD newsroom as an anchor and reporter. In 2011, Dodrill drove ’Fast Eddie’, a 1999 Buick Le Sabre, to a victory in his heat of the Marshfield Fair Demolition Derby. Since he was little, Dodrill and his friends and family have made it a point to visit the Marshfield Fair to take in the sights of the demolition derby’s, sounds smells and tastes of the fairs midway. Dodrill, a NASCAR fan, has also followed auto racing on the local level since he was a kid. As a frequent visitor to Seekonk Speedway in Seekonk Massachusetts, he has been watching demolition derby’s from the grandstands at Seekonk and in Marshfield since he was a kid.
