Democrat Allen J. McCarthy was unseated by Republican challenger Geoff Diehl last night in the race for the 7th Plymouth District seat. Diehl, from Whitman, works as an account executive for a New Bedford sign company. The 7th Plymouth district includes Whitman, Abington and East Bridgewater.
