Tuesday & Wednesday Mornings 2:00 – 5:00 am
When Kevin Boles was 7 years old his mother gave him her old High School stereo system. It was this stereo that established his passion for record albums. Relatives and friends of the family started giving him all their old record albums and 45s. Kevin was in his glory! His favorite album was American Graffiti which introduced his to 50’s music and Kevin has been hooked ever since.
In High School Kevin saw an ad in the Bellingham Bulletin from WNRI 1380AM in Woonsocket RI. They were looking for DJ’s to buy airtime. That is how Kevin’s show “At The Hop” got started. The cost of airtime was draining his wallet but his love for hosting an Oldies Show was worth every penny.
Kevin’s Aunt Cathy was so excited to hear his radio show on WNRI that she emailed her co-workers. Bobby Sands who hosts “Tomorrow’s Dreams” at WATD worked with his aunt. Bobby responded to the email and Kevin met Bobby at the Marshfield Fair. She introduced him to Ed & George of “Yesterday’s Memories”. Kevin would join them on Saturday nights on their show. A friendship formed quickly. George later came to WNRI to do a show with Kevin. He was impressed with Kevin’s knowledge of 50’s music as Kevin was only 18. George spoke with WATD’s Ed Perry and Kevin was offered an internship. Kevin was Ecstatic!
When not hosting his show on WATD, Kevin collects and sells records at the Raynham Flea Market on Sundays. Stop by and say hello sometime.
