”The Wrecking Crew – Rock and Roll’s Best Kept Secret”
Have you ever heard of the musicians known as the “Wrecking Crew”? Well, it was the nickname for a group of studio and session musicians that played anonymously on many hit records during the 1960s and 1970’s. The musicians backed dozens of popular singers, and were one of the most successful groups of studio musicians in music history. You’ll also hear portions of Dave’s interview with Denny Tedesco, the son of legendary “Wrecking Crew” guitar player Tommy Tedesco.
“Covering the Cover Versions”
3:00 PM–6:00 PM
In popular music, a cover version is a new performance or recording of a previously recorded, commercially released song by someone other than the original artist or composer. For example, the Beach Boys hit song “Sloop John B” is actually based on a folk song first made popular in the Bahamas in the 1930’s, and was recorded in 1950 by the folk group, The Weavers, under the title “The Wreck of the John B. And Dave Skill will be featuring cover songs like this and lots more.
