Spend some family time reviewing the latest Marshfield Recreation Department brochure. The Fall Community Brochure is now available. There are many new programs and trips for the community, activities for ages 1 to 95. Mail or drop off your completed registration form to the recreation office. It’s the Plymouth Phil’s 96th Season Opener “Beethoven’s Magnificent Fifth” at 8pm at Memorial Hall in Plymouth. The Concert begins with the National Anthem, accompanied by a color guard from Plymouth’s American Legion Post 40, led by Sergeant Philip Ryan.

Bring the whole family to The 31st Annual Daniel Webster Wildlife Sanctuary Farm Day Saturday October 22nd from 10am to 4pm.  The event features farm animals, a hay maze, tractor rides, music, craft fair, stories and other children’s activities. Come to the Westwinds Bookshop Halloween Story Time and Party on Monday October 24th starting at 10am.  The event is for children ages 6 and under.  The staff will be reading a variety of fun and spooky Halloween stories followed by a Halloween Parade and Trick or Treating in the Duxbury Market Place. 

So you want to be an archaeologist?  Get your hands dirty with the DCR archaeologist! Come to Myles Standish State Forest on Saturday, October 29th from 10am to 4pm for a brief introduction to the science of archaeology. Enjoy a day of digging, washing, recording, mapping, cataloguing and much more.  Stop by for an hour or spend the day; feel free to bring lunch as picnic tables will be available nearby.  Bring water and work-gloves.  Meet at the amphitheater behind the headquarters building at 194 Cranberry Road in South Carver. Rain date: Sunday, October 30th. All ages welcome.  Carve a pumpkin into different designs and shapes at Halloween Howl, Saturday, October 29th from 5:30 to 8:00pm at the South Shore Natural Science Center in Norwell. Join us for some ghoulish glee and a not too scary night of family fun!  Ongoing activities include a pumpkin carving station, Halloween crafts, live animal presentations and a guided walk through our decorated “Spooky Woods” and haunted EcoZone . New this year is a Glow in the Dark Scavenger hunt too. Wear a costume if you would like. Bring a pumpkin to carve. Pre-registration requested, cost  Members: $12/child, accompanied with an adult , Non- members: $15/child, accompanied with an adult . Westwinds Bookshop presents “Play With Paper” on Saturday November 5th from 10am to 5pm.  Throughout the day older children will be invited up into the wonderful loft space to play with paper creating a variety of origami and paper projects.
