Saturday April 6th, 2013:

The 2nd annual South Shore International Festival will be held today from 12noon to 5pm in Hingham. This is a celebration of culture, education and diversity held in Downtown Hingham. The festival will feature native dancing and performances, exhibits, shopping, and foods from around the globe. Children can go from country to country to get special passports stamped to become a citizen of the world. The First 100 children at the festival receive a free festival t-shirt when they pick up their passport to the travel the world! Color our World and make a World Flag with the Hingham Library. African Drumming with Drum Connection outside near Brewed Awakenings! The International Festival is hosted by Su Escuela Language Academy and co-sponsored with the Downtown Hingham Association. The Plymouth Antiquarian Society invites the public to a free tour of Burial Hill to be held today at 1pm. This month, local guide Joyce Poremski offers an intriguing view of once famous 19th-century novelist, Jane Goodwin Austin, who fictionalized the histories of Plymouth families including the Standishes and the LeBarons. The tour will meet at the main Burial Hill stairway; no reservations are required for individuals and families. Participants may traverse steep and slippery slopes; please wear appropriate shoes.
