In Pembroke it’s time to celebrate the Grand Old Fish Fry! The Grand “OL” Fish Fry is held at the Thomas Reading Memorial Herring Run Park on Rt 14. Fish cake ($6) and Hot dog ($6) meals will be available to purchase. The meals will include corn bread, baked beans and lemonade or coffee. After you have enjoyed your meal and tried your chance at a duck race, you can wander down to the Adah Hall House. The Adah Hall House is open for visits during the fish fry hours of 11-3. Their will be face painting and cotton candy in addition to the duck races. The Rocky Run Band will be performing.
Come celebrate spring at Dalby Farm in Scituate today from 11 – 3! It’s their Spring Hatch Celebration and you can take a guided tour and learn how the farm works. Earth Day is officially in April, but at Soule Homestead Education Center in Middleboro, the event will be held rain or shine on Saturday, May 11th. There will be activities and programs on a wide variety of practices pertaining primarily to sheep farming, shearing, and the processing of wool. Ongoing demonstrations will include spinning, weaving, rug hooking and rug braiding. Activities especially for children are washing fleece, carding, spinning and felting wool, along with making crafts using wool and recycled materials. The day will also include a variety of handcrafts made by local artisans and locally grown perennial plants for sale. Hot dogs and refreshments will be available. Admission is $5 per adult; $2 per child (under 12 years); children under 3 free. Soule Homestead is located at 46 Soule Street in Middleboro.
